Meet Corey Crews-Williams, Energy Engineer
What does your job entail?
My job primarily consists of conducting energy audits and performing energy/water savings calculations for multifamily housing projects in the Mid-Atlantic region.
What is the most inspiring/interesting part of your job?
The most interesting part of my job is being able to implement recommendations we curate from our energy audits and see how they impact residents. This allows us refine our recommended upgrades based on resident feedback. Additionally, its inspiring to see firsthand how the recommendations impact our clients.
What is a challenge that people in this industry face that you would like to solve?
A prominent challenge in this industry is acquiring historic utility data for projects. We need this information to accurately predict utility savings. This issue rests on the premise that we need to understand the past to best prepare for the future.
What do you like to do outside of work?
DIY Projects! It’s become my creative outlet. I’m currently repurposing wood pallets to make raised garden beds.
Last Book You Read?
Broke Millennial by Erin Lowry. Financial literacy is key!
What have you been doing lately to keep happy and healthy?
Lately, I’ve been more intentional with taking breaks from social media and spending time outside.
What advice would you give to somebody looking to start in this industry?
Network with people that work in a role you could see yourself doing. They’ll have a very valuable perspective on the industry. You can do this by joining local organizations associated with green building and affordable housing.
