Alex joined New Ecology, Inc. in 2021 and serves as the Senior Energy Rater for the Mid-Atlantic. He provides design assistance and field verification for a variety of new construction and existing building projects throughout the region. Prior to joining New Ecology, Alex worked for over a decade performing field diagnostics, energy modeling, and overseeing multiphase retrofits as a Building Analyst and Quality Control Inspector for both market-rate HPWES and DHCD Weatherization Assistance Programs. He has conducted over 500 residential energy audits and specialized in overseeing retrofits addressing environmental hazards such as mold, lead, and asbestos. In addition, Alex has a background with community organizing. This professional experience includes outreach for multiple state Weatherization agencies and consumer education/market intervention for the Baltimore City Office of Sustainability. He is deeply passionate about providing the highest standard of energy efficient, durable, and healthy housing for working families.  When not on a job site or energy modeling homes, Alex can be found foraging for wild mushrooms, slowly renovating his 130 year old rowhome and volunteering at his local tool library.
