Working Smarter Not Harder: The Power of Teamwork in Multifamily PH Projects

From NESEA's BuildingEnergy Boston 2025, with Passive House (PH) certification becoming typical, or code-required, throughout the Northeast, ensuring smart and efficient project team collaboration is critical to success. This session showcases five experts in PH certification, interconnecting multiple perspectives on the PH process, requirements, and goals from an owner/developer, architect, MEP engineer, general contractor, and sustainability consultant. Each panelist discusses their unique PH role and their relationship with the other team members. Discussions include lessons learned to increase productivity and reduce duplicative work, as well as templates and collaborative tools for attendees to use on their own Passive House projects. Refrigerants: Rethinking their Role in Electrification

From NESEA's BuildingEnergy Boston 2025, this panel analyzes the impacts of the EPA's Technology Transitions Program, including the phasedown of HFCs and the adoption of A2L refrigerants, which present new challenges for design teams and building owners. Panelists explore the roles of refrigerants in shaping the electrification strategies of new and existing buildings, while proposing innovative HVAC design alternatives to minimize refrigerant use. Gain strategies to adapt to regulatory changes, advancing safe, sustainable, and cost-effective HVAC designs for a low-carbon future. Session Chair(s): Brendan Kavanagh, Ashley Wisse Session Speaker(s): Neil Donnelly, Maciej Konieczny, JS Rancourt, Tom Secondo
