Charlie Simek - Energy Engineer

Charlie joined New Ecology in 2019 as an engineering intern. After learning the intricacies of working in the sustainable affordable housing market during this internship, and a second internship the following summer, he joined full-time in 2021. Charlie works in a number of capacities within the Remote Monitoring engineering team. He does comprehensive data analysis of utility systems in buildings in order to provide clients with actionable information that can be used to increase the sustainability of their properties. He also performs building assessments in the field and creates documentation to assist in the creation of energy efficiency project proposals. While in the field he also works with clients to understand system performance and troubleshoot issues and ultimately implements changes and other improvements. Charlie built a strong foundation in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Purdue University working on a number of data projects focused on efficiency and optimization. One of these projects optimized an electrical vehicle charging infrastructure for the Midwest and created a website where users could plan a road trip using the charging stations.
