Ching-Wen Hsiao - Senior Building Energy Modeling Analyst

Wen joined New Ecology as a Building Energy Modeling Analyst after receiving his Master’s in Energy and Environment from Harvard in 2015. He also holds a Master of Architecture and Historic Preservation from Taipei National University of the Arts and a Bachelor of Science from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. His primary responsibility is to conduct building energy analysis using simulation tools and physical calculations of buildings. The simulation tools he uses include eQUEST, EnergyPlus, THERM, and WUFI Passive. Wen has extensive knowledge of building energy codes, modeling guidelines, and green building program requirements. He has successfully built energy models for permit applications, zero carbon analysis, LEED, Energy Star, Passive House, CT Utility Rebate Programs, and Enterprise Green Community Certification program. Before moving to the US, Wen worked as an architectural design professional in Taiwan, with extensive architectural design experience in urban regeneration projects, residential towers, hotels, and museums. He also taught design theories and history as an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Architecture at the National Taipei University of Technology.
